Congratulations! I made it to my due date!!! I am dying of anticipation for little Meatball to get here, but I’m just trying to go with the flow and know that at most I’ll just have to wait one or two weeks more.
This is what I look like today:
I’m trying to juge up my look, but clearly those boots and that skirt aren’t working well together. But look, I put on some earrings for once!! I am actually really looking forward to wearing clothes that make sense again, instead of just throwing on the few tops and bottoms that still fit (in whatever order they seem to come in from the laundry!!).
I also thought it was high time I took some pictures of the nursery. Now, I know only a select few of people care about nurseries, so I’m sorry if the rest of this post is pretty boring… I promise to keep it short and not mention the nursery again. I guess I just want to show that I’m well-stocked and ready to get this show on the road!! Here are some photos:
We found this glider on the side of the road. I picked up the seat cushion at Winners for $38.
Change table. Picked this up used for $50. Got a new changing pad, and the thing is so well stocked with sheets, receiving blankets, sleepers and washcloths (all from the shower). We also have a small stash of reusable diapers (we’re going to try a few different brands and then buy lots more of the ones that fit best).
The crib. I also got this used for $50 (if you’re going to buy a used crib, check for recalls!!). The mattress was the most expensive baby thing I’ve bought to date at $130. Mobile and stuffies were presents from my shower.
Reusing decorations from the shower. It’s a boy!
Do you think this kid’s got enough clothes!?! Thanks Auntie Mel and Cousin Rio! Well stocked for the first year (and beyond).
Bookcase with a healthy mix of French and English books. Baby be bilingual!!!
The walls are decorated with various baby related things, but the whole look is a little disjointed. The room doesn’t have a theme or anything. We heard that on average parents spend $10,000 on baby things in the first year of baby’s life, and that seems excessive to us, so we’re trying to be as frugal as possible.
So there you have it, baby’s first bedroom. Of course, the baby will be sleeping in our room (in a hand-me-down bassinet) for the first few weeks, but we’re happy to have everything ready to go for the kid when he gets here.

Firstly, mom’s at 40 weeks aren’t supposed to look this hot. Dang!
The babies room is awesome and minimal, just the way it should be. You will probably have a nurse come in and tell you to take all the little gus gus’ down anyways. All dangerous.
I still haven’t bought the kid much yet. Get whatever you can for free. Remember to ask me if you need anything.
Bonne chance!!!!
Ah Thanks Christine!! Yeah, we were given some bumpers, but Angelo took them down when our prenatal class teacher told us they were BAD for baby.
