Angelo and I were lucky enough to have a couple of days up at the lake. Though time alone is a rare commodity at a family cottage, we still managed some sweet QT and a lot of R&R. It’s amazing what a few days can do to overall health.
(I should mention that in the days leading up to our vacation, I fell into a slight depression. I would cry all the time, felt run down all the time, and couldn’t muster enough enthusiasm to keep up with regular housework, let alone half completed renovations.)
First of all, I caught up on my lack of sleep. We went to bed early, woke up late, and still managed one or two naps a day. It was absolutely heavenly. The other thing was the sun. Though we only had one real day of sunny weather, it was enough to get tanned, and feel that warm glow that comes with spending hours on end in the sun. The last thing was not thinking about work. It’s amazing how the cottage can shut out the city and let you forget anything that goes on at the office.
So now we’re back home, and I feel completely rejuvenated. I’m eager to finish the work on the house, and start a new project (the living room).
But just because we’re back in town doesn’t mean the vacation is over! Yesterday we went to two FIFA U-20 games (Argentina VS. North Korea and Brazil VS. USA) and it was so much fun!! Though we lost one member of our crew (the loud, chanting Englishman) we still managed some rivalries with neighbouring spectators. We even managed to smuggle in a couple of PBRs so we didn’t have to pay the exorbitant $8.25 for a beer!!!
And today is the 7/7/7 Allecat race, my first. I cannot wait. Though this morning I got a flat on my way to the store, I still feel pumped about racing, and can’t wait to see how it goes. The race starts at 5pm, and though I’m sure there will be a party afterwards, Ange and I will be heading out to Bluesfest at 9pm to catch Manu Chao. Again, cannot wait. Should be a great weekend, rain or shine!!
